Metal detecting went out of style long before more exciting treasure hunting exploits like geocaching came along.
But now it's making a bit of a comeback at a beach near you - albeit without one of those metal detectors that make you look like a nerd or a weirdo.
Treasure Seekers are essentially beach sandals equipped with a built-in detector. A pack strapped to your leg beeps (or if you prefer to use the silent mode, vibrates) whenever you walk over a rusty nail – or a long-hidden treasure.
The control box, which stays on your calf with an elasticated band, also features three LEDs indicating whether you can carry on moving or whether you should get digging right away. Green indicates normal (nothing's been detected), yellow shows that there may be something worth exploring beneath your feet, and red screams that you've hit the jackpot.
Had enough of the treasure hunting? Can't find anything other than rusty cans? Are the kids on the beach laughing at you? Just unplug the pack and use the Treasure seekers as durable chunky-plastic flip flops.
