Starcraft II World Championship hits the UK
Britain's best gamers compete to be crowned UK's National Champion in the 'Starcraft II' World Championship.
From 30 June to 1 July 2012, 16 of the best 'StarCraft II' players in the United Kingdom will compete in the World Championship Series UK Nationals in London. Part of a global campaign to find the best 'StarCraft II' player in the world, the United Kingdom Nationals will see Britain's best fight it out to be crowned the UK champion and earn the right to represent their country at the 'StarCraft II' World Championship Series Europe Finals.
The 16 competitors have each earned an all-expenses-paid trip to the UK Nationals by winning open qualifiers hosted on the Electronic Sports League website. They will now be competing for a R120 000 prize fund provided by Blizzard Entertainment, as well as three coveted spots at the Europe Finals, which will be held in September.
Held at BAFTA, 195 Piccadilly, the event is expected to attract over 1 000 spectators and free tickets can be reserved for both days of the event.
The event will be broadcast live over the Internet on ESL TV with the world-famous casters Nick "Tasteless" Plott and Dan "Artosis" Stemkoski (GomTV) providing commentary.
They will be joined at the event by Paul "ReDeYe" Chaloner (Sky1, DirecTV), who will be the weekend's host.
