Uyanda Mbuli tweets from jail

Socialite and fashion designer Uyanda Mbuli was caught tweeting during her stay in jail after she was arrested by Midrand Police.

According to Sunday World, police are investigating how the Midrand cops who arrested the former beauty queen allowed her to smuggle a cellphone into a holding cell.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela told the paper: "If it is true that she was tweeting from police holding cells, we will investigate how she got her phone in there. Cellphones aren't allowed in police holding cells."

Mbuli tweeted fans while in police custody, and gave her followers a breakdown of the arrest and conditions of the holding cells.

Her first tweet was: "I can't sleep. I'm in a holding cell and Gard Damn, its cold sleeping on cement! LOL! I was arrested today & treated like the criminal I am! My crime: Marrying the wrong man."

"My mom never told me when I got married that should I opt out I would end up a criminal..."

The socialite even sent out to a tweet to boast about a fan who was also sharing the cell with her. She tweeted: "I'm sharing the cell with a young lady who says she's my biggest fan. Thank God!!!

"It would be worse if I'd be in with a UM-Hater... LOL," (sic).

Mbuli will be appearing in court on 29 May after being released on a warning. She filed for divorce from her husband Sisa before vacating their Kyalami house, but had moved back in, prompting him to report her for violating a protection order.
