AB De Villiers & Ampie Du Preez
Fans know AB de Villiers for his incendiary cricket playing but now the top-order batsman for South Africa is about to show his fans a whole new side.
This comes in the form of AB's debut album titled Maak Jou Drome Waar which he has created with longtime friend Ampie Du Preez. The album is heralded by the single "Show Them Who You Are"” which gives a strong indication of the sportsman and Du Preez's considerable creative talents.
For AB the decision to take the plunge into music came out of his long-standing friendship with Du Preez. "“Ampie's an amazing partner to work with and a brilliant musician,"” he says.
The duo's creative match is spot on: Du Preez has created a strong rock soundbed for the music whilst De Villier's lyrics compel attention. Many may be surprised to know that De Villiers loves writing indeed, taking time out of his hugely busy schedule to put pen to paper gives the famous sportsman real pleasure
As AB puts it: "I'm the kind of guy who likes to be alone once in a while and at these times I find it very easy to let my creative side come out and write about what moves me. I really, really love reading and writing."
