Jub Jub had company
Jub Jub was allegedly intoxicated with alcohol and drugs when he drag raced with his friend in Soweto on Monday – an
act which resulted in the death of four school pupils.
Yesterday police confirmed that the rapper, whose real name is Molemo Maarohanye and his friend Themba Tshabalala,
both tested positive for alcohol and drugs.
Further police investigations suggest that the rapper may have not alone in his car when the accident happened.
According to the police, the passenger, whose name is known to 'The Star', is a well-known television actress who fled
the scene when the car stopped.
Police are still looking for her.
Maarohanye and Tshabalala appeared in the Protea Magistrate's Court today on charges of culpable homicide, drunk
driving and reckless and negligent driving.
Soweto community leader, Dlangezwa Mvelase said a protest would be held outside the court.
Maarohanye and Tshabalala were racing each other on Mdlalose Street in Protea Glen, Soweto on Monday night when
they lost control of their MINI Coopers - mowing down four of six school pupils who were walking on the pavement.
Police said they were not sure if it was Maarohanye's vehicle or the other one that struck the teens.
