Tulisa stole 'Young'

Tulisa stole 'Young' from another pop star.

The singer's first solo record was originally developed by her N-Dubz bandmate Fazer and producer Ali Tennant with another artist in mind, but as soon as she heard it, she knew it was perfect for her.

She told BBC Radio 2: "With 'Young', it was one of those ones I heard in the studio, produced by one of my very good friends with Fazer, who I was in N-Dubz with.

"I heard it, and I was like: 'I have to have this song. And it was meant for someone else, I'm not going to say who it was meant for, who they pictured it for, but I nicked it.

"They don't know I've nicked it! They didn't even get a chance to pitch it to the [other singer], they were preparing it, it wasn't even finished and I was like: 'I'm having that song, give it to me.'"

Tulisa added she has had a great deal of input into the record, writing around "70 percent" of it.

Since N-Dubz - which also features Dappy - have been on hiatus, she also said it has given her the opportunity to develop her personal style.

She added: "Before, I had to blend all the time with two lads that were very urban and wearing tracksuits on a day-to-day basis, and if I came out in a luxurious gown, I would look a bit silly. So I never had chance to enjoy fashion or look at how I wanted to style myself, whereas now I am by myself, I've got some time to find out who I really am."
