DJ Euphonik held for beating Bonang
South Africa's current 'it' girl Bonang Mathebe has reportedly obtained a protection order against her boyfriend 5FM DJ Euphonik after he allegedly beat her up last week.
According to Sunday World, the 'Live' presenter has dumped the DJ, whose real name is Themba Nkosi, after opening an assault case and appearing at Randburg Magistrates' Court on 30 May.
Euphonik was arrested on 1 June after Matheba submitted a medical report to the police.
She appeared in court with her lawyer Bongani Khoza.
Khoza said: "We confirm that Matheba indeed approached a court and made an application. The matter is pending before a court of law and is thus sub judice.
"While we realise and appreciate the fact that Matheba is a media personality we put emphasis on the point that the matter is a personal matter and as such we demand that Matheba's privacy be respected," he added.
The newspaper's sources who claimed to have seen bits of the indictment say Matheba claims she paid Euphonik a visit at his Westdene apartment in Johannesburg on 29 May.
An argument erupted and Matheba stormed out without closing the main gate behind her.
Euphonik then followed her to her apartment in Hyde Park and entered through a window after he found the door locked.
"He then asked her why she did not close the gate to his house. She told him she was too lazy to close it," says the source.
Euphonik allegedly slapped her a few times and started kicking her before she was rescued by neighbours.
