P-Square sign to Universal

Nigerian twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye, popularly known as P-Square, have signed a licensing and partnership deal with Universal Music Group Sub-Sahara Africa.

Lindelani Mkhize, the Group Executive Director of Universal, announced the deal   in Wierda Valley, Sandton.

"This marks the first visible commitment from Universal to the African continent. We are very excited by the fact that there was a meeting of minds between ourselves and P-Square which has culminated in this moment," said Mkhize.

Peter Okoye added: "P -Square have managed to sell millions of albums and gather many fans all over the world and especially in Africa through their individual efforts. By teaming up with Universal Music, we are now ready to take our music and our brand to the next level."

According to Mkhize, there are two key objectives to this deal. One is to make P Square's music available to their South African and other African fans through physical and digital distribution, which will also include a promotional tour in South Africa.

The second objective is to work with P-Square and develop them as a global brand from Africa.

In 2011 Akon signed the duo, alongside Wizkid and Tuface, to his Atlanta-based music record label, Konvict.
