Tiesto - Parade Of The Athletes
If you like your dance music with an uplifting twist, then here’s an album to see out 2004 and see in the coming year.
Tiesto just recently topped DJ Magazine’s TOP 100 list – voted for by the public worldwide which is undeniably a kudo for this highly-rated DJ. But if you’re expecting Tiesto on the decks here, mixing up the hottest tunes around then here’s something to sink your teeth into: Parade of the Athletes features all original material (bar “Adagio For Strings” penned by Barber Samuel), revealing a talent to the DJ that many of his fans may yet not be aware of.
Of course the subject at hand throughout the 12-track release is the 2004 Olympic Games: in a major feat, Tiesto provided the soundtrack for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Athens, playing 90 minutes live for over 70.000 people in the stadium and for billions of television viewers all over the world.
What’s impressive about Parade of the Athletes is the new music that Tiesto created for the Olympics and, as you can imagine, the emphasis throughout the album is on the positive, the uplifting, the transcendent and the emotionful with tracks like “Olympic Flame”, “Victorious” and “Ancient History” among the album’s highlights.
Think of Parade of the Athletes as the 21st century version of Vangelis’ soundtrack to the epic athlete film, Chariots of Fire.
