Various - Wow Gospel 2012

The latest instalment of the highly anticipated 'Wow' series takes us out west to the aptly nicknamed City of Angels.

Los Angeles' music history boasts the likes of Billy Preston, Rodena Preston, The Southern California Community Choir and Margaret Pleasant Douroux, to name a few. The King og gospel, Rev. James Cleveland, rose to prominence after relocating there, and in 2000, sister act Mary Mary brought LA Gospel to the mainstream with their smash hit 'Shackles'.

We would be remiss in not mentioning our West Coast cousins from the North - they were a huge part of pioneering this great music as well. The Bay Area spawned its own share of gospel greats - Edwin and Walter Hawkins, Tramine Hawkins, DJ Rogers and the legendary Andae Crouch.
