Bouwer Bosch - Almal Maak Voute
Previously from Straatligkinders and also from Dans Dans Lisa, 'Almal Maak Voute' is his first offering as solo artist. The album was written and recorded over a period of two months and produced by Wynand Delport.
"I always look at what is out there in the Afrikaans scene and then try things in between what I see. South Africa has got amazing rock acts, electro acts, pop acts, but there are not an act that is piano driven rock and roll. I wanted to venture down that path and write songs like that and see what would come of it."
Bouwer drew inspiration from every day happenings in his life for the album, and thus the album is filled with little stories - "From falling in love, breaking my heart and someone else's heart to my dad fighting cancer and me trying to figure out God. You don't have to like the music to relate to the story, so my hope is that the stories will reach people's hearts."
He chose the title, 'Almal Maak Voute', because whenever one sees a spelling mistake, one immediately tries to correct the person who made it. Bouwer feels that that's the same with regards to the judgmental side of human beings: Whenever we see mistakes in other people's lives, we are quick to tell them to fix it, or we try to change them, to fit into our way of life. It's a reminder to let people be and let love win.
'Almal Maak Voute' also features several collaborations: 'Dansvloer Rumoer' is about a boy trying to impress a girl with his stupid dance moves and features producer Wynand Delport's wife, Lindi. '(k)anker' features Jaco van der Merwe from Bittereinder and 'Sit en Wag' features Steve Hofmeyr.
